YWCA Tampa Bay

Welcome Letter

Welcome to YWCA Tampa Bay online! We hope you will visit our website often and connect with us on Facebook and Twitter to stay abreast of the exciting work, news, and opportunities within our fine organization. The YWCA is on the move and we want you to be a part of our journey.

As an organization committed to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all, throughout our history, the YWCA has been in the forefront of most major social justice movements in the United States. As a pioneer in race relations, labor union representation, and the empowerment of women, the YWCA does not discriminate based on gender, race, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. Our philosophy is to enable individuals to achieve their full potential, enhancing the family unit, and strengthening communities.

Since 1919, YWCA Tampa Bay has provided opportunities for women by offering safe housing, academic and job skill training, and leadership in organizing activities to advance women’s rights. Today, the organization offers a diverse range of programming which includes childcare, women’s economic empowerment, and racial justice advocacy, serving more than 1,000 individuals annually. As the YWCA redefines its strategies to address the growing needs of women, children, and families, three words articulate the purpose of an organization that has served this community for 94 years. YWCA Tampa Bay exists to Help. Give. Hope.

More than ever, it is critical that we Help the under-served and disenfranchised in our community; Give to those less fortunate; and offer Hope for a brighter future. This is one contribution each of us can offer to the women, children, and families struggling in the current economic recovery. You can improve the lives of those served by YWCA Tampa Bay. You possess the power to Help. Give. Hope.
